5th Annual Transmodern Festival (Live.Art.Action)
to Take Place at Load of Fun Galleries
April 3rd through 6th

The Transmodern Festival -- voted "Baltimore's Best Art Event" --
City Paper -- returns for its fifth year in April with expanded 
artists and events at Load of Fun Galleries in the Station North 
Arts District.

February 5, 2008, Baltimore, MD  -- The 5th Annual Transmodern 
Festival (Live.Art.Action) will be held at Load of Fun Galleries 
and the surrounding Station North Arts District from Thursday, 
April 3rd to Sunday, April 6th.  The festival expands this year 
to over 50 critically acclaimed local and international artists 
presenting experimental performance, sound, film, and installation.
Special Transmodern Festival curatorial assistance provided by 
Laure Drogoul (Sondheim winner 2006,) Stephanie Barber, Adam 
Robinson, Theresa Columbus, Jaimes Mayhew, and Rebecca Nagle.
The festival continues to maintain a strong focus on presenting 
works by women, GLTBQ, minority, and radical fringe artists.

The festival will kick-off with an opening event at Load of Fun 
Galleries on Thursday, April 3rd including installations and 
performances by acclaimed national artists including avant pop 
star Anna Oxygen (Portland), Frankie Martin (NYC), Dillon de 
Give (WI), Gobolux (NYC) and more.  Curators: Stephanie Barber 
and Theresa Columbus.

Friday and Saturday night events include a wide range of time-
based art, roaming performances, installations, and experimental 
theater.   Friday's 3-floor art-mania blow-out includes 22 local, 
national and international artists featuring: Alice Kemp (London),
Dina Kelberman (Baltimore), Carly Ptak (Baltimore), Erin Womack
(Baltimore,) Renato Umali & Paul Drueke (WI.)  Saturday's festival 
headliners include performance star Dynasty Handbag (NYC) & Prix 
Ars Electronica award winners -- Blevin Blectum (Providence) &
Kevin Blechom (SF.)  San Franciso-based trans man emo rapper 
Katastrophe will end the show on Saturday with a performance and 
live DJ set.  Curators: Ric Royer, Adam Robinson, Catherine Pancake.

But wait -- there's more!!!  On Sunday the festival will present 
"Pedestrian Services Exquisite" -- a guided walking tour of the 
Station North Arts District with 30 artists providing site-specific, 
roaming, uncanny, planned/unplanned actions, and other esoteric 
actions along the way.  This event conceived and curated by 2006 
Sondheim Prize winner Laure Drogoul, Jaime Mayhew (UMBC MFA 
candidate), and Rebecca Nagle (MICA undergrad.)
